A LIFE FOR ENGINES
Our company was founded in Bremen on October 9, 1929. With the typical Hanseatic mixture of stubbornness, prudence and foresight, our unique competence was built up from day one: making every engine run again.
The company partners Gustav Schmettau and Alfred Fuchs opened a car parts trade and workshop supplies for the then still young mobile world in the ancient Langenstrasse in the city of Bremen - very close to the world famous Town Musicians.
EYE LEVEL
Among the brand names from the founding days were classics such as Borgward, Lloyd, Goliath and many names that are still in the range today, such as Nüral or Glyco. The corporate culture has also remained the same: competence, know-how and quality standards on the one hand, northern German grounding and a family atmosphere on the other. This is what the employees live and what the customers appreciate, who often remain loyal even over generations.

GET RUNNING
In 2010 Kai Baumgarten took over the company after having been on board as a partner for eight years.
Joining Carat in the same year and moving to their own logistics center with increased storage capacity and optimized transport connections in Achim-Uphusen gave Schmettau and Fuchs another boost and made them the full-range engine supplier in Germany.
